Question: Mental Health Nurse Practitioners Programs in Texas: are you able to have your own practice?

I am considering a Master’s of Science in Nurse practiotioner programs that is Direct Entry – I would graduate as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I reside in Austin, Texas… and I was wondering if I could have my own practice or must I be supervised by a Psychiatrist? If you are a MHNP could you point me in the direction for what the guidelines for Texas specifically are? Thank you for your time.

Question: What are the best public universities for nursing programs?

I am a junior in high school and I am thinking of colleges I would like to attend. I’m going to get a BSN in nursing and eventually I will get my masters degree to become a nurse practitioner. I am interested in UPENN, john Hopkins, UPitt, UNC Chapel hill, university of Texas at Austin and UCLA. Are there any other universities that are public that have really good nursing programs? Community college isn’t an option for me. I would also prefer to attend a college in a suburban or urban/city setting. I am interested in a four year program. Thank you!!
